New iOS bug can crash Apple iPhones

New iOS bug can crash Apple iPhones

As mentioned earlier, sending a specific Telugu character (Indian language) will crash your iOS device's Messages and other apps and will unable you to open it again.

News of the bug emerged after reports in Italian blog Mobile World and has since been widely replicated, with numerous confirmations posted online.

The bug has been addressed in the latest beta versions of macOS and iOS so it should be gone when the next software update is released.

Tests by a variety of publications have been performed with third-party apps such as FaceBook Messenger, WhatsApp, Gmail and Outlook, with the issue appearing in all cases. The app crashes and reboots as soon as this Telugu character is received or even copy pasted in text editors - TextField, Labels and TextView. However, the Cupertino based company has stated that it is working on a fix for the bug.

But you can fix the iOS 11 problem right now. iOS 11.3 is currently in public beta and is receiving weekly updates.

While many bugs are relatively benign, often getting patched before the user knows anything is wrong, the latest plague to hit Apple devices is already wreaking havoc on internet. The only way to make to your iMessages work properly is to delete the entire conversation with the bad character by having someone else send a text message to the app that is crashing.

According to VentureBeat, if the message is posted into a text app, the entire phone can crash.

Apple is working hard to fix a bug in its latest OS update that causes apps to crash when a particular letter from Telugu, a south Indian language, is displayed.

But Apple says it will release an intermediary update, a minor release that could take form as iOS 11.2.6 or something similar, to patch this particular bug. This means that Apple is likely aware of the problem to some extent.
