Aer Lingus confirm all flights cancelled until Saturday

Aer Lingus confirm all flights cancelled until Saturday

The airline says it will remain in close contact with the airports and the relevant authorities and recommends that customers check the status of their flight on the Ryanair website before making their way to the airport. However the airport will close in the interest of safety.

The airport tweeted from its official Twitter page this afternoon.

The airline said that due to the severe weather conditions brought on by the Beast from the East and Storm Emma, no flights will be operating to or from Dublin, Shannon, Cork, or Belfast airports.

Yesterday (1 March) the airline was forced to cancel 40 flights due to Storm Emma's unsafe conditions.

As Storm Emma approaches the United Kingdom and Ireland, the airline has also cancelled all flights today from Cork, Kerry and East Midlands airports.

"We're now operational, however, there are a large number of delays and cancellations".

London's Heathrow airport has been the worst hit by the snow, with around 200 flights having been proactively cancelled in order to keep the remaining 1,000-plus departures and arrivals on time.

Other passengers, who were due catch flights today, chose to arrive at the airport early yesterday evening prepared to spend the night in the terminal amid fears they would not be able to make it to the airport this morning.

They added: "Ryanair now plans for a return to full operations, in all Irish airports on Saturday, March 3, while remaining in close contact with the airports and the relevant authorities".

"We will have snow crews working today and tomorrow to continue to clear the runway, taxiways, aircraft parking stands and apron areas for our airline customers' planned resumption of services on Saturday morning".
