A Nun In the Katy Perry Property Lawsuit Died In Court

Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, one of two aging nuns who were fighting the sale of the 8-acre (3-hectare) convent, died on Friday during related legal proceedings in Los Angeles County Court, Fox affiliate KTTV reported.

The singer sought to buy the 32,375-square-metre property and its Roman-villa style buildings for US$14.5 million. Katy Perry wants it and she has no concern for the bad path of destruction she is creating to get it. "We extend our prayers today to the Immaculate Heart of Mary community and to all her friends and loved ones", a statement from the archdiocese read.

But local entrepreneur Dana Hollister stepped in and attempted to buy the property from two nuns who had lived there for $US15.5 million ($19.7 million). There apparently were 2 buyers who wanted the property badly - Katy and a restaurant owner named Dana Hollister.

Sister Catherine lived in the convent in Los Feliz with another nun for four decades and, in 2015, she'd tried to sell the property to restaurant owner Dana Hollister, who meant to turn the convent into a hotel. "It's not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people", Holzman had earlier told KTTV as she entered the courthouse with Sister Rita Callanan.

In December, Perry was awarded $3.3 million in damages, on top of a previous payout of $1.6 million in compensatory damages to help fund the case. "She had nothing to do with forcing herself on us".

"To Katy Perry, please stop". However, the sisters preferred Hollister's offer as it was more at $15.5 million and they had a stronger bond with her.

She collapsed during a court hearing in Los Angeles Friday, in what has been a protracted effort by the nuns to keep Perry from taking ownership of the property.

A judge ruled that the sale of the convent was invalid and Perry and the Catholic Church were awarded a total of nearly $10m (£7.2m) in damages in December previous year.
