Robert Mueller Was 'The Bachelor' In SNL's Hilarious Cold Open Last Night

Saturday Night Live kicked off this weekend's show with a mashup of two big (and entirely unrelated) stories from the week: The Bachelor season finale - in which the show's titiular suitor chose one contestant as his bride-to-be, only to later film their breakup and propose to another - and special counsel Robert Mueller's ongoing investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 election.

But instead of Arie, cast member Kate McKinnon plays Mueller, and Cecily Strong plays Becca as someone who is intent on the special counsel charing President TrumpDonald John TrumpAccuser says Trump should be afraid of the truth Woman behind pro-Trump Facebook page denies being influenced by Russians Shulkin says he has White House approval to root out "subversion" at VA MORE with collusion.

"Honestly, probably six", he replied.

The show took the most ridiculous parts of last week's finale of The Bachelor and spoofed it with a Trump/Robert Mueller overlay centered on the investigation into our President's ties to Russian Federation... and the result was HIGHlarious!

Becca's reply, riddled with political satire, is: "So.what, you don't have Trump on collusion?"

"So that's it? He's just going to be president?" she asked Mueller.

"I'm trying to be honest with you, and tell you that can't commit to collusion right now", says a crestfallen "Mueller". "Oh my God, I have to wait two more years for him to be out of office?" "He's just gonna be president?" Strong as Kurin asks, clearly distraught.

Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall Pearson on This Is Us, hosted last night's SNL, and as they're wont to do, the writers gave his role a little shoutout in the form of a skit.

Becca then asks if Mueller has any good news to offer at all.

Brown used his This Is Us - "the saddest thing you can watch on TV other than the news" - roots during his monologue as he tried to keep his emotions in check. "A drama so unnerving you can't look away".
