Nintendo Switch Adds Friendly Firmware Update

Nintendo Switch Adds Friendly Firmware Update

This is according to Twitter user Wario64 who noted that Nintendo Switch Firmware update 5.0.0 was mentioned following the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app update.

Many Switch owners have been long awaiting Firmware 5.0.0, imagining this next big update might bring yet untold software functionality to the system. Facebook and Twitter friends that also use Nintendo Switch can now be added through Friend Suggestions and digital software purchases made from a PC or smart device will start downloading sooner than previously, even if the Nintendo Switch console is in Sleep Mode. Instead of the on-screen number pad, users will now enter their PIN using the Control Stick and buttons, by default.

Well, for people hoping System Firmware 5.0.0 is coming sooner than later, whatever it might contain, we might have some good news for you.

Finally, Nintendo has made some changes to the parental control system.

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller grip colors will now display in the Controllers menu. This feature allows you to add specific software titles to the whitelist in order to exclude them from some Parental Controls restrictions on the Nintendo Switch console. Before installing, they are advised to save any game progress. Your console will restart to complete the update.

You can now choose to lock this app.

This time, it appears to be either a leak or an unintentional mistake by Nintendo where they accidentally listed a different firmware update in the patch notes.
