Iraq to receive Saudi Crown Prince next month

US President Donald Trump will hold talks with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the White House on March 20, a presidential spokesperson said today.

The most cynical accounts of the anti-corruption crackdown argue that Saudi government may or may not be less corrupt and inefficient now, but Prince Mohammed unquestionably commands a great deal more money than he used to, while his most unsafe rivals are either fearfully subdued or actively under surveillance.

At least 17 detainees were subjected to physical abuse during the anti-corruption crackdown, spearheaded by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in order to extract their wealth for their freedom, the Times has found.

The report also said that more than a dozen of the prisoners were abused while they were being held, and that numerous assets of the 381 princes, ministers and tycoons have yet to be seized.

Relatives of some of the detainees said they were deprived of sleep, roughed up and interrogated with their heads covered while the government pressured them to sign over large assets.

"All allegations of abuse and torture of those investigated during the anti-corruption proceeds are absolutely untrue", said a spokesman for the Saudi Embassy in Washington.

Prince Mohammed and his father, King Salman, have sought to tighten their grip at home - consolidating powers that were once shared among an extended royal family. One person who saw the corpse of the officer, Maj.

Now, others are said to be living in fear of what could be next.

The Prime Minister said the visit of Imam-e-Ka'aba would further strengthen the existing close and brotherly ties between the people of the two countries. The official added that the detainees had "full access" to legal counsel and medical care.

Major General Ali al-Qahtani, a top aide to a son of the late King Abdullah, was among those held.

They had first been taken into custody in November.

Even Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the world's wealthiest men, was locked up at the Ritz, according to the newspaper.
