Karen McDougal: Trump once tried to pay me for sex

As ABC News noted, the former Playboy model said she and Trump were together dozens of times during the relationship, but McDougal said she would later be filled with regret for carrying on an affair with a man who had just married Melania the previous year - and just after she gave birth to their son, Barron.

She continued, "I'm sorry". Karen McDougal said on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360". And in fact, every time that I met him there, it was the same exact bungalow. "It must have been so sad".

McDougal thinks she could face retaliation for speaking to CNN in the form of a "big lawsuit" against her or "financial ruin".

"What can you say except I'm sorry?" she said.

Asked what she would want to say to the first lady now, McDougal said, "I'm sorry".

A spokeswoman for the first lady did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this week, McDougal sued seeking to be released from a gagging order over the alleged affair.

"I was kind of mortified", McDougal said. "I'm not that kind of girl, '" McDougal recalled.

"And he said, 'Oh, ' and he said, 'You're really special, '" she said, adding that "it hurt me that he saw me in that light".

McDougal said Trump tried to hand her money after they allegedly had sex for the first time.

"When I look back, where I was back then, I know it's wrong".

She went on to describe their sex as unprotected, saying Trump disliked the feel of condoms.

"I voted for Donald", McDougal said. The contract, according to the Journal, did not require the Enquirer to run the story and compelled McDougal's silence.

Offering to pay back the contracted sum she has with the company, McDougal denied to CNN that she was trying to profit further on her story and wanted the rights to her own narrative.

The former Playboy model said she was attracted to Trump and thought he was "an interesting person" and "brilliant". "Like when our relationship was going on, I didn't see that side of him at all". I'm very selective in what I'm saying about our relationship.

The New Yorker published an article last month that referenced an eight-page document McDougal wrote about the alleged affair, which a friend provided to the magazine and McDougal confirmed.

"Obviously, there's a reason I don't bring her up, because I felt guilty about it", McDougal said, adding that she never knew for sure whether Melania was aware of their affair. "It was just digging inside me".

This is not the first time that photos of Karen McDougal have gone viral. "I know it's the wrong thing to do", she told Cooper. And Keith (Trump's driver) drove around to the back and he said, we have to get out here, because we don't want to walk to the hotel.

McDougal's lawsuit came on the same day that a NY state judge ruled Trump must face a defamation suit by California restaurateur Summer Zervos, who accused him of sexually harassing her after she appeared on his former reality TV show "The Apprentice".
