Delhi Police begins probe in CBSE paper leak case

According to a news channel, prime minister Modi expressed his un happiness about the leak of class 10 and class 12, CBSE papers.

On Monday, panic had stuck students following claims on Whatsapp that the class 12 economics paper has been leaked, though CBSE had denied it.

Javadekar termed the CBSE examination paper leak issue "unfortunate" and assured that steps will be taken to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. "With the view to upholding the sanctity of the Board examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has chose to re-conduct the examinations in the subjects". The board cleared that the new dates will be decided after considering the logistics and the dates of the other professional examinations.

Prakash Javadekar, Union Education Minister, later told reporters that "2-3 papers" had leaked but promised all parents and students that the authorities had already filed a police complaint right away. At present, the board has not taken any action for the paper leak and it has announced that it is going to conduct the re-examination.

CBSE students protest over the alleged paper leak, at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, on Thursday. However, these reports were dismissed by the CBSE as the original question paper did not match the leaked question paper. "All the seals have been found intact at all the exam centres", the Board said. Police is trying to trace the source of the leak circulated over WhatsApp. As the government scrambled to gather facts, the initial investigation has indicated that the leak may be the handiwork of a gang working in cahoots with individuals at a particular paper bank and a few schools.

Several parents criticised the board for playing with the future of the students by deciding to re-conduct the exams.

A special investigation team comprising two deputy commissioners of police, four assistant commissioners of police and five inspectors has been set up to investigate the matter.
