North Korea Issues Rare Apology Over Media Access to K-Pop Show

Pool TV footage also showed Kim, clad in a dark Mao-style suit, clapping from the second-floor VIP stand as South Korean Culture Minister Do Jong-hwan bowed and greeted North Korean spectators looking on from the first floor.

Kim met with Red Velvet and other South Korean performers after the show, shaking hands with them and expressing his "deep thanks", according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Red Velvet were the highlight of the evening, though, generating applause from the audience and Kim Jong Un alike.

Tuesday is when the musicians of the two Koreas are slated to hold a joint concert. "Spring literally has arrived and it also presents our wishes for spring to come over our relationship between the North and the South". April 25 is when the regime celebrates Kim Il Sung's establishment of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army in 1932 to fight Japanese colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula.

The inter-Korean summit, the third after meetings in 2000 and 2007, will be held on April 27. No sitting US president has ever met personally with a North Korean leader since the conclusion of the Korean War.

It kicked off with a performance by jazz pianist Kim Kwang Min, along with a hologram that depicted the theme.

"North Korean refugees overwhelmingly and consistently report that it has become more risky to consume foreign media under Kim Jong Un's crackdowns", Sokeel Park, the South Korea country director for refugee aid organization Liberty in North Korea, wrote Monday on Twitter. As reported by AP, these materials are smuggled into North Korea via flash drives across the border with China.

Warren said that there could be no military solution to the dispute with North Korea and that she has been told that "it will take strong economic and diplomatic efforts" to reduce the threat posed by Pyongyang.

How North Koreans would react to Red Velvet was the focus of media attention in South Korea.

"We should hold culture and art performances frequently", Kim told the South Korean performers.

The historic concert April 1, titled "Spring is Coming", was the first of its kind in the North's capital since 2005.

In the South, the Sunday show will air in its entirety on local channel MBC this Thursday at 7:55 p.m.

The stage was then relinquished to the legendary Cho Yong Pil, who is revisiting Pyongyang for the first time in 13 years.

The paper did not name the starlets or the titles of their songs but gave only a general account of their concert.

Seohyeon sang for the last part of the individual performances.

As well, the of South Korean taekwondo demonstrators performed at the Pyongyang Taekwondo Hall I front of more than 2,300 north Koreans including Choe Hwi, chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee.

Let's remember that North and South Korea are still at war since the Korean war (1950-1953) since they never sign a peace treaty, only a ceasefire agreement.

After the performance, the rogue nation's leader personally went backstage to shake the hands of the group and take photos with them.

Sunday's performance was one of two scheduled during the trip. K-Pop - characterized by its manufactured melodies and slick approach to marketing - has penetrated into North Korea over the past 10 years.

Sunday's two-hour concert is a proof that South Korea is also willing to improve the inter-Korean relations.
