Eriksen double earns Tottenham victory at struggling Stoke

Spurs ended a 28-year hoodoo last weekend when they won 3-1 at Chelsea and they followed that with a determined 2-1 win at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Eriksen fired in Tottenham's victor from a free-kick although the goal was initially credited to striker Harry Kane, who claimed he got the faintest of touches as he attempted a header.

Tottenham are fourth in the league with 64 points and looking to secure a top-four finish to ensure Champions League football next season.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insists he and his players are not bothered by chairman Daniel Levy's income.

A visit to Stoke is next up and Pochettino says that game will be tougher than last Sunday's visit across London.

"This is the most competitive league in the world and there are a lot of great teams but we've reduced the gap to them", said Spurs captain Hugo Lloris.

It is a different story for Watford, who were the better team until Vokes' equaliser, as they lost for a third time in four matches, and though still nine points above the relegation zone they should not encounter any late-season drama.

But replays were inconclusive and, even though Tottenham and Stoke had awarded the goal to Kane, the Premier League confirmed that it would need to be reviewed.

Kane is aiming to achieve a third consecutive golden boot but Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has pulled five goals clear in his absence. Then he got the injury and players like Davinson [Sanchez] and [Jan] Vertonghen stepped up - and you have got to deserve to play. He's okay, he's fit and everything but if in this type of situation we can look to avoid taking risks and we have players like Serge Aurier, who is working hard, why not give him the possibility. For me, Stoke will be a tougher game than it was at Stamford Bridge.

Any Spurs players feeling underpaid and undervalued could perhaps be angered by that pay boost for the man at the top.

But I think it is a question that maybe we talk too much about but in the end if it is true, because I don't know, but I think it's not an issue.

"We are going to play for three points, the same that we did against Chelsea".
