Israel's Labor cuts ties with Corbyn, citing anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel

Britain's Labour Party has been plagued by an anti-Semitism scandal, with the party's leader Jeremy Corbyn personally coming under fire for the rise of anti-Semitism in the party.

In a highly-critical letter, Avi Gabby, chair of the Labor Party of Israel, said the party would have no further relations with Corbyn's office while the issues of anti-Semitism in UK Labour fail to be "adequately" tackled.

In a letter written to the British Labour leader, Mr Gabbay said: "It is my responsibility to acknowledge the hostility that you have shown to the Jewish community and the anti-Semitic statements and actions you have allowed as Leader of the Labour Party UK".

"As Israel approaches Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day this week, we are reminded of the horrors of anti-Semitism in Europe and our commitment to combating anti-Semitism of all forms and in all places", Gabbay's letter said.

Gabbay said Corbyn had shown "very public hatred" towards Israeli government policies including those where the opposition and the ruling coalition are aligned. "I think they should have done me the courtesy of asking me first".

"The Labour Party of Israel and the Labour Party UK have a long history of friendship. I am a strong believer that engaging in meaningful dialogue is crucial to finding effective solutions and resolving disputes and I am clear that such a meeting would be just the start of a fruitful ongoing exchange on eradicating antisemitic behaviour and discourse within the Labour party".

He added: "The UK government must support the UN Secretary-General's call for an independent global inquiry into the killing of protesters in Gaza and review the sale of arms that could be used in violation of worldwide law".

The message was read Saturday at a demonstration in support of the Palestinians outside of the prime minister's office on Downing Street and posted on Corbyn's Facebook page.

The British Campaign Against Antisemitism denounced Corbyn to the Labour Party in a comprehensive disciplinary complaint that accuses Corbyn of bringing his party into disrepute for dismissing antisemitism and flags his membership in several social media groups used as platforms for antisemitic posts.

"Jewdas" the group organizing the Passover event describes itself as providing a "radical voice for the alternative diaspora" and is well-known for its outspoken views on the Jewish State.

Demonstrators carried placards demanding "Zero tolerance for anti-Semitism" and "Labour hold Corbyn to account".

Labor leader Avi Gabbay sent a letter to Corbyn informing him of the decision.
