Palestinian man killed in clashes with Israeli troops in Gaza

The bombing came hours after an Israeli airstrike targeted Hamas training sites in the central and southern Gaza Strip.

Lieberman has provided no evidence to back his claims.

"It is time for the Israeli authorities to stop fabricating lies to justify murder and it is time to stop targeting Palestinian journalists".

The Israeli military told AFP it was not aware of such an incident.

But State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the photojournalist had passed a us government vetting process for his media company to receive a USA aid agency grant.

A total of 34 Palestinians have now been shot dead since the start of the protests that began on March 30, when tens of thousands took to the border area with Israel demanding the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

The authorities have rebuffed worldwide calls for an investigation into the killings, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday warned that his country would "hurt" anyone trying to attack it.

Israeli forces fire live ammunition, tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets at protesting Palestinians. Thirty protesters have been killed, Reuters reported.

As worldwide calls mount to investigate the violence, Israel has named several of those killed as being affiliated with Hamas' military wing.

Thursday's fatality raises the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli fire over the past two weeks to 34.

After the Palestinian man falls to the ground, soldiers are heard cheering in the background.

Palestinian activists have insisted the protests are civilian-led and nonviolent, while Israel has said they have been used as cover for violence against Israeli troops and efforts to breach and damage the border.

The army said the Palestinian shot had instigated a "violent riot" but that soldiers' comments in the video "do not suit the degree of restraint expected".

The sniper fired at him once, wounding him in the leg, after warnings shots and orders to disperse went unheeded, it said, adding that the video was taken by a soldier from another unit. "Do you know what the context of the situation was?" he said on Israel Army Radio Tuesday morning".
