Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his USA counterpart Donald Trump discussed the latest developments in Syria in a phone conversation late Wednesday.
Erdogan said earlier that he was going to speak with Putin after he had exchanged views on Syria with US President Donald Trump on the phone. "The two leaders agreed to stay in close contact about the situation", the White House said, providing no further details.
The White Helmets organization in Eastern Ghouta alleged that the Syrian regime forces carried out a chemical attack in Douma district, killing dozens of people.
Trump also blamed Russian Federation for being partners with "a gas killing animal", referring to Syria's Bashar al-Assad.
Erdoğan also underlined that Turkey does not intend to give up on its alliance with the USA, its strategic relations with Russian Federation on a range of fields from energy to security or working together with Iran to solve regional problems.
Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said that both Russian Federation and the US are on the wrong side in Syria. This comes after he spoke with President Trump Wednesday about preventing future attacks in Syria.
Cavusoglu added by saying that the establishment of a permanent solution such as the Astana and Sochi processes must be put to work effectively and the country must go in elections in a very short time under the U.N.'s roof.
Turkey has backed Anti-Assad forces, as Russian Federation and Iran heavily support the Syrian president.
"The United States submitted the draft resolution but it was vetoed".
Erdogan's warning about potential conformation in Syria echoed similar concerns by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim who on Wednesday called on Russian Federation and the U.S. to stop "street fighting" on Syria.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralised" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured. On March 18, Turkish-backed troops liberated Afrin town center, which had been a major hideout for the YPG/PKK since 2012.
