Rob Gronkowski will not attend start of offseason workouts

When the Patriots begin offseason work Monday, Gronk and Tom Brady will not be there.

Gronkowski reportedly grew exhausted of the "high-strung" culture within the Patriots organization.

The Patriots open the voluntary portion of their offseason program on Monday. He is not expected to participate in the voluntary workouts either. There is, however, some financial incentive for Gronkowski to show up.

Rob Gronkowski's contract is back on the negotiating table. The Patriots quarterback now is in Qatar with Best Buddies International and is not set to return until Monday night.

Brady also is not expected to attend the start of the offseason program; he has been on a business trip to Qatar. He's now on a "business trip" in Qatar, according to Schefter.

Belichick didn't seem too anxious about the absence of Gronkowski or Brady, noting that players miss the offseason program due to prior commitments every season.

It is not yet known how much of the program Gronkowski will miss.

One person who does not seem to be overly concerned by Gronkowski's future is Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who claimed the prospect of being without the two-time Super Bowl victor was nothing to be afraid of.

In 2017, Gronkowski tallied 69 catches, 1,084 yards and 8 touchdowns in 14 games. He's set to receive around $9 million if he returns to play in 2018.
