Meek Mill rereleased after 5 months in prison

"I just left from seeing him in jail with @michaelgrubin and we were just told that he is being released", the comedian wrote.

Meanwhile, following Mill's own statement, his Roc Nation boss and fellow rapper JAY-Z posted the following message on Facebook: "Today, Meek Mill, a son of Philadelphia, is a free man".

The Supreme Court asked the judge to issue an immediate order for Mill's release on unsecured bail.

The rapper spoke exclusively to Page Six as he raced to the Philadelphia 76ers playoff game in a vehicle after his close friend, 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, personally picked him up at the jail and flew him on his personal helicopter into Philly to head to the arena.

Variety reported that Meek was let out on bail after a ruling from Pennsylvania's highest court. Suddenly the sports world is fighting over Meek Mill, which means ESPN is going to get its hands on the hottest prisoner of 2018.

Mill ended up serving five months of a 2-4 year sentence for violating probation on a decade-old drug and gun case. During a hearing last Monday, prosecutors overseeing Mill's case recommended granting the rapper a new trial based on what they say is Graham's history of corruption. The sentence brought Philadelphia into the national spotlight over issues about inequalities in the criminal justice system, and it also sparked a very public feud between Williams and Brinkley, with Williams accusing the judge of being enamored with him and alleging that the FBI had investigated her handling of the case.

Jay has been an outspoken supporter since the rap star was first locked up, and in November, he wrote a piece for the New York Times, in which he attacked the USA justice system and accused lawmakers of picking on black people. "To the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, I'm grateful for your commitment to justice-not only for my case, but for others that have been wrongfully jailed due to police misconduct", Williams said in the statement.

'In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my legal team to overturn this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music career'.

Upon his release, his biggest supporters in the entertainment industry including Jay-Z, T.I and even Kevin Hart welcomed Meek back with open arms.
