Cosby Found Guilty on All Counts in Sexual Assault Retrial

Bill Cosby gave a freakish response after his retrial on Thursday, where a jury found him guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.

A jury in Pennsylvania on Thursday found Cosby guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault after a two week re-trial on the case concluded.

Cosby now faces up to ten years for each of the three counts of drugging and raping Andrea Constand in his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. He is likely to get less than that under state sentencing guidelines, but given his age, even a modest term could mean he will die behind bars.

Cosby originally had escaped guilt during a trial past year after the jury was deadlocked over five days of deliberations.

Cosby's defense team argued that their interaction was consensual. Prosecutors in Montgomery County at the time decided not to file charges in the case, and Constand and Cosby settled a civil lawsuit for $3.38 million in 2006.

The case has forever tarnished the legacy of the actor once adored by millions for his role as lovable father and obstetrician Cliff Huxtable on the 1984-92 hit television series "The Cosby Show".

Prosecution arguments in the trial portrayed Cosby as a calculating predator, while the defense presented him as the victim of a multimillion-dollar frame-up.

They also heard Cosby admitting he had obtained seven prescriptions of Quaaludes, a now banned 1970s party drug, from a Los Angeles doctor for back pain with a view to having sex with other women.

Earlier in the day, jurors asked for a legal definition of "consent," and to see differing statements from key defense witness Margo Jackson, who says Constand's claims are false. But the defense team made an unsubtle attack on it when lawyer Kathleen Bliss told the panel that "when you join a movement based mostly on emotion and anger, you don't change a damn thing", adding that "mob rule is not due process".

Another new element in this year's trial was O'Neill's decision to allow the testimony of Marguerite "Margo" Jackson, a former colleague of Constand's at Temple, who testified that Constand once mused about framing a celebrity.

Dozens of women have come forward in recent years to say he drugged and assaulted them.

But Cosby himself had long ago confirmed sordid revelations about drugs and extramarital sex.

Cosby also acknowledged giving pills to Constand before their sexual encounter. He created the top-ranked "Cosby Show" two decades later.

Later in his career, he attracted controversy for lecturing about social dysfunction in poor black neighbourhoods, railing against young people stealing things and wearing baggy trousers.

Constand initially told police about the assault in 2005, a year after the assault occurred.
