Paramount CEO Confirms Two Star Trek Films In Development

The news had brought a new life to the dying franchise which was not living up to its potential since J.J. Abrams had brought the franchise back into popular culture in 2009.

During the Paramount's CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday in Las Vegas, CEO Jim Gianopulos confirmed that the studio has not one, but two, new Star Trek films in the works. Will Paramount listen to the fans and give them "real" Star Trek movies?

Another "Star Trek" film is also being developed by J.J. Abrams and Quentin Tarantino, however, it will arrive after "Star Trek 4".

Hiring women directors has become an actionable priority for studios in recent months, and results are starting to be seen as more female filmmakers are getting hired for franchise projects. Star Trek has a deep and rich history outside of Captain Kirk and his Enterprise crew.
