Cavaliers' Rodney Hood reportedly refused to enter Game 4 for garbage time

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood made a selfish decision to refuse to check into his team's Game 4 blowout win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday, but it does not sound like the immature act is going to cost him anything.

After losing his usual spot in the Cavaliers' rotation in Game 4, Hood refused to enter the game in the fourth quarter, multiple sources told The Athletic's Jason Lloyd.

"When the Cavs called a timeout with a 30-point lead and 7:38 left Monday, (Tyronn) Lue tried inserting Hood for (LeBron) James", writes The Athletic.

Lue had good reason to sit Hood, who entered the game averaging 4.6 points on 40 percent shooting.

Hood is a very good player but he's had a awful playoffs so far, averaging only 4.6 points on 39.6 percent shooting.

Cleveland will await the victor of the Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics series in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Rodney Hood refused to enter the game when summoned in the fourth quarter Monday, angering a number of teammates, according to multiple sources.

Hood, who was the only member of the Cavs not to log any minutes last night, only played in 39 minutes through the first three games, scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting.

Hood started Game 1 against IN, but after the Pacers beat the Cavs by 18, Lue changed his lineup. He had previously averaged about 13 minutes a game in the series against the Raptors.

It's an odd scene to watch play out at this point in the postseason, but it's also easy to see why Hood has been frustrated with his role on the Cavaliers of late.

He was acquired from the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal in February. General manager Koby Altman intends to meet with Hood to hear his side of the issue, but the damage may have already been done in the Cavaliers' locker room.

But with an apology to the team forthcoming and the Cavaliers seemingly uninterested in punishing Hood with a suspension or fine, it's possible that the team could put this all behind them in short order.
