Sensex, Nifty end unchanged, ICICI Bank gains 7%

Amid Postive cues from Asian peers The Nifty of National Stocks Exchange (NSE) too advance by 38.35points to 10,656.60.

The key Indian equity indices traded on a positive note on Monday tracking gains in the benchmark Asian markets.

The sensex registered the day's high and low at 35,388.87 and 35,136.01 points.

So far, the major gainers on the BSE were ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Axis Bank, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Adani Ports while Mahindra and Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys and HDFC Bank were the major losers.

According to market analysts, heavy selling pressure in consumer durables and capital goods stocks trimmed the overall gains made earlier in the day's trade.

Around 12:35 pm (IST), the BSE Smallcap index was 0.31 per cent up at 18,148, while the BSE Sensex was 0.18 per cent up at 35,273.

The index had rallied 292.76 points in the previous session.

Overseas, Asian markets were trading higher following firm leads from Wall Street overnight.

However, European shares opened broadly flat as investors prepared for President Donald Trump's decision on whether to withdraw the USA from the Iran nuclear deal.

In the domestic market, on Friday, investors bought shares worth a net Rs 1,084.09 crore, while foreign portfolio investors sold shares worth Rs 1,628.23 crore, according to provisional data.

Japan's Nikkei quoted 0.31 per cent higher while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 1.26 per cent in their early deals. The Indian rupee on Monday weakened past 67-mark to hit a 15-month low against USA dollar.
