Ramos misses penalty as Sevilla stun Real Madrid

The defeat leaves Real trailing city rivals Atletico by three points with two games remaining, while Sevilla remain in the hunt for Europa League qualification with the hard-earned win.

Although Madrid were afforded plenty of the ball, they were not very effective and found themselves trailing 26 minutes in - Wissam Ben Yedder scoring his first LaLiga goal since February with aplomb.

It was too little too late for Madrid, though, meaning they now face an uphill battle to finish second.

Ramos had a chance to pull one back from the penalty spot after half-time, but his spot kick slammed against the crossbar.

The visitors were awarded another penalty when Mercado was adjudged to have shoved Theo Hernandez inside the box, and Ramos fired home in the 95th minute. We play a lot of games and all of the players have to rest. "But he was good, like the others, above all in the second half".

"We were good in most areas, but we did nothing in the last 30 metres, nothing on the second line, nothing to worry the opponent", he said. "Every time we come here something happens with him".

Zidane told reporters after the match, "We played better in the second half but couldn't get it done in front of the goal". He was not flawless with the [missed] penalty, but that can happen. It is a pity as these are the players who play less, but we can not reproach them, they almost turned it around at the end with the two goals.

In the standing table of La Liga, Real Madrid is at the third place with 72 points and the team Sevilla FC is at the eighth place with 51 points.

Despite the injury absences of Cristiano Ronaldo, Isco and Dani Carjaval, and Gareth Bale away for the birth of his child, manager Zinedine Zidane still saw fit to ring the changes with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luca Modric, Keylor Navas, Marcelo and Raphael Varane for the trip to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
