The exit polls run by Republic TV-Jan Ki Baat and ABP-CVoter predicted that the BJP will emerge as the largest party by getting 95-114 and 97-109 seats, respectively.




He claimed there was a strong wave in BJP's favour and public ire against chief minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress. Yeddyurappa said, "He (prime minister Narendra Modi) is in touch with me and (BJP president) Amit Shah".

He did not give further details saying, "We will come back to you once again with all details". In the past JD (S) has run a coalition government with Congress and also with BJP - it has been known to swing both ways.

"Every Congressman or (party) activist I have met in Karnataka has no doubt that we will be the single largest party".

To a question on seizures in the run-up to the polls, he said Rs 94 crore in cash, besides liquor worth Rs 24.78 crore and other items such as clothes, vehicles and electronic gadgets worth Rs 66 crore had been seized.

The counting of votes and announcement of results will take place on Tuesday.

Yeddyurappa said on Sunday that the CM is confused.

A single-phase polling was held in 222 constituencies out of the 224 elected seats in the Assembly, including 36 reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and 15 for the Scheduled Tribes (ST). "They won't say because their mindset is like that while Siddaramaiah, true to the Congress culture, has spoken very boldly and transparently indicating the confidence we have in our victory", he added.
