Arsene Wenger: "I have to move out of the country"

Arsene Wenger:

Wenger's assistant Steve Bould has also been offered a new role but the former defender hasn't yet given an indication of his future and is understood be weighing up an offer from recently relegated Stoke City.

Speaking to Arsenal's website, Wenger confirmed he will likely manager overseas next.

Robert Pires has urged Arsenal to consider Patrick Vieira as the man to take over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal as he has all the qualities required to thrive at the home of the Gunners. Arteta is just 36 years old, and if the board's assessment is right and he proves to be a brilliant manager, it could be another 22 years before they have to worry about hiring a new manager again.

Therefore, all things considered, Pires think Vieira would be the ideal man to lead the Gunners into the next phase, more than any other potential candidate.

Arteta has emerged as the overwhelming favourite to succeed Wenger in the past few days and Arsenal have now interviewed all of the main candidates.

Furthermore, it was reported that negotiations have entered an advanced stage with financial remuneration and the number of backroom staff already being discussed.

While the managerial vacancy remains to be filled, the club has wasted no time in clearing the decks for the new regime.

Juventus manager Max Allgeri is now out of the running after pledging his allegiance to the Serie A giants, while Hoffenheim insist that their coach Julian Nagelsmann is also staying put.

The 68-year-old revealed last week he has some work to do in France early this week before returning to Arsenal's London Colney training centre to clear his desk.

"It will be very hard for me [without Arsenal]", Wenger said. "As I said in my speech on the pitch after the Burnley game, I'm a fan above all".
