Agent insists: Liverpool must agree Fekir fee with Lyon first

With Emre Can set to depart when his contract expires at the end of next month, Liverpool could possibly field an entirely new-look midfield next campaign if they manage to secure a deal for Fekir.

As a result, it's become unclear as to whether Liverpool will be able to secure any deal with Fekir before the World Cup kicks off in Russian Federation.

Bernes told French daily Le Progres: "I have not gone to Marseille, I am with my family, but I will be clear, we will go with Nabil to Liverpool or elsewhere only when there is an agreement with Lyon and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives me the green light".

On Saturday evening, reports from France claimed that Nabil Fekir was due in Melwood for a medical but the Liverpool Echo reports that such claims were wide of the mark.

"We always try to go in the direction of the players".

While few transfers are ever straightforward and without delays, most reports over the last few weeks have suggested Fekir to Liverpool is a matter of when, not if.

"I would be amazed if there are not other big clubs interested, but Liverpool are slowly making their way back not only to the top of the English game, but the top of the European game". It sounds like Fekir wants to join up with Klopp at Liverpool, and that the deal is still likely, but it remains to be seen when Liverpool will land their man and how much they'll have to pay to do it.

Fabinho and Naby Keita are already Reds players - great additions to the strongest Liverpool side in years.

Last week, Reds legend Jan Molby said that a deal should be tied up before this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation. Have your say in the comments section below.
