Mar-a-Lago Is Still Trying To Higher Foreign Workers

BuzzFeed spotted the job listings Thursday, which were made despite Trump crowing that immigrants are holding down wages and taking jobs from American-born workers.

The newspaper reported almost 300 USA workers had applied or been referred for jobs as waiters, waitresses, cooks and housekeepers but only 17 were hired.

Trump has criticized US companies for employing foreign workers, but has defended Mar-a-Lago's hiring practices, saying there aren't enough local applicants. However, the New York Times reported in 2016 that since 2010, only 17 of 300 American applicants were hired at the club.

According to the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the employer filing for H-2B visas must demonstrate that there are "not enough U.S. workers who are able, willing, qualified, and available" and that the foreign workers "will not adversely affect the wages and working conditions of similarly employed U.S. workers".

Once again, Trump's business practices have seemingly contradicted his views on immigration as his Mar-a-Lago resort wants to hire 40 more foreign workers.

Trump's so-called "Winter White House" previously filed requests for 70 H-2B visas in January.

Incidentally, a former employee told CNN that a large percentage of these seasonal workers are attractive, young women from Romania and South Africa, adding that the President prefers workers with an "exotic appeal".

President Trump's Mar-a-Lago applied to hire 40 additional foreign workers, according to documents released by the government this week. "Workers could apply only by fax or mail".

"People don't want a short-term job", Trump explained.

Trump defended the practice of hiring foreign workers, telling MSNBC's "Morning Joe" it "is very hard to get people in Florida for seasonal jobs".

The lawsuit claims that the charity was used to promote Trump's private businesses and his presidential campaign, also alleging that Trump requested foundation funds be used to settle a case between the city of Palm Beach, Fla., and Mar-a-Lago. "Does that make sense?" Host an event at its own Mar-a-Lago Club.
