George Clooney hospitalized after vehicle hits his scooter in Italy

More details have emerged surrounding George Clooney's accident, and it sounds like he's been very lucky.

The film star smashed the windshield with his head and flew 30 feet from the vehicle, Avlon said Clooney relayed to him.

Clooney was traveling on a state road in Costa Corallina, a province of Olbia, when the crash occurred, Italy's TGCOM24 reported.

A local paper said the star's injuries were not serious, but that he was taken to the emergency room.

Clooney's rep has since told ET: "George was treated and released from an Olbia hospital".

Clooney is a Northern Kentucky native.

It comes after Clooney was pictured stepping off a private jet in Sardinia with wife Amal, 40, and infant twins, Alexander and Ella, last month.

Reports suggest Amal was not present at the accident, but later joined the actor in the hospital.

Reports from Italian broadcaster TGR, suggest the 57-year-old Sonning resident was taken to hospital after the crash. Clooney left the hospital about two hours after the incident.

Fans were quick to express their relief that the dad-of-two was doing well after the accident, with one tweeting: "I saw George Clooney trending and nearly had a heart attack".

Catch 22 was written by Luke Davies and David Michôd and is based on the Joseph Heller novel with the same title. "He is recovering at his home and will be fine".

"George Clooney fell and slammed the windshield of the Mercedes", said Cicognani in an email to the paper. The reported "catch" in Catch-22 is, according to The Telegraph, a USAAF rule that states a crew member "is considered unstable if he keeps on flying unsafe combat missions, but if he asks to be relieved of his duties, the act of making the request proves that he is sane and therefore must stick with the job". The Clooney Center for Justice is working to help the separated families.
