John Isner reaches 8th Atlanta Open final - 7/28/2018 8:10:20 PM

Nick Kyrgios was booed off the court in his quarter-final at the Atlanta Open as he retired hurt.

Norrie, world No 73, won the first set 7-5 before the Australian pulled out after struggling with what appeared to be a recurring hip injury.

At times Kyrgios seemed disinterested in the contest with his effort in question late in the opening set before he meekly double-faulted to give Norrie, who now represents Great Britain, the early break in the second.

With his second ATP title of the year, Isner joined Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras as the only Americans to win five or more titles at a single tournament.

Wimbledon semi-finalist John Isner beat Mischa Zverev in the quarter-final of the Atlanta Open on Friday.

In the press conference at the Atlanta Open after beating the South Korean Hyeon Chung in three sets, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 7-6 (5), the American Ryan Harrison spoke about his relationship with the Australian Nick Kyrgios. Isner has won eight of his nine semi-finals in Atlanta, and will look to improve his record of 13-12 in finals. "I needed to", Isner said.

"To his credit, he (Ebden) played much better than me that day in Australia".

The 23-year-old also landed himself in hot water during the Queen's Club Championships last month, when he was captured on live television simulating a sex act during a change of ends.

"Now, I'm playing in my backyard and he beat me in his backyard".

Unseeded Italian Matteo Berrettini defeated qualifier Jurgen Zopp of Estonia 6-4, 7-6 (6) to reach the first tournament final of his career. It helps a lot. "We have both played good tennis all week".
