Mourinho doesn't envisage Yerry Mina at Manchester United

Paul Pogba's possible transfer to Barcelona after transfer deadline day could cause problems for Manchester United and manager Jose Mourinho.

Sources have told ESPN FC that United, who had the second best defensive record in the league last season, were concerned at the size of the fees quoted by Leicester for Maguire and by Tottenham for Alderweireld and decided both deals did not represent value for money. The team has World Cup victor Paul Pogba leading the midfield, and Belgium star Romelu Lukaku manning the attack with Alexis Sanchez.

The Red Devils host Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday in the Premier League's opener and Mourinho had already looked short on options due to the club's World Cup players.

Internally, the greatest frustration for Mourinho has been waiting for the return of those players who had the longest World Cup campaigns.

And in news that is sure to frustrate most United supporters coming to terms with getting behind the squad they have, and resolving to do so by hoping the defence will be freshened up from within, one of the club's most talented youngsters is going to leave the club on loan.

"But it's the same conversation as with (Ashley) Young, (Marouane) Fellaini, (Jesse) Lingard, it's the same".

However, the report suggests that the United hierarchy did not want to pay over the odds for players who did not come with a resale value, nor did they want to focus their attention on anyone who could only hold down places in the team on a short-term basis. Yet, Mourinho will be looking to see his team collect three points in front of their own fans.

However, Eurosport understand from reliable sources close to the club that Pogba has not made any financial demands to the club.

"I'm not confident", he said. "When you repeat 1,000 times that my relationship with my players is not good, it's a lie, repeated 1,000 times".

Sanchez signed for United in January, and has so far struggled to replicate the goals and attacking threat he consistently displayed during his three-and-a-half years at Arsenal.
