Ronaldo enjoyed another stellar campaign for Real Madrid, helping them to win an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League with 15 goals in the competition, before joining Juventus in the summer.

Deschamps became just the third man to win the World Cup as a player and coach with victory over Dalic's Croatia in July's final in Russian Federation.

The ex-Spain boss spoke about a number of issues, including Lionel Messi's comments that Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus weakens Madrid.

The Best FIFA Football Awards will be held on Monday, Sept. 24 in London.

Real Madrid went on to defend their title in the European showpiece, and despite the fact that he didn't score, Ronaldo lifted the trophy for a fifth time in his career. The Barcelona star did not make the top three cut, as Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah among the three selected.

Between them, Messi and Ronaldo have won the Champions League nine times and have a combined 14 domestic league titles.

Mohamed Salah had an unbelievable season with Liverpool previous year where he scored a staggering 44 goals and assisted 16 more.

Messi has gone three seasons without winning the Champions League, last doing so in 2015, and admits it is his major goal this season: 'It's time [to win it again].

Messi has been linked with a move away from Barcelona over the years due to his status as, arguably the best player in world football.

Messi also believes the transfer will leave Madrid worse off and says Juve are now among the clear favourites to win this season's Champions League.

France's World Cup-winning captain Hugo Lloris is in contention for the goalkeeper of the year award, alongside Golden Glove victor Thibaut Courtois and Danish shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel.

She is up against two Lyon players, Ada Hegerberg of Norway and Germany's Dzsenifer Marozsan.
