Naomi Osaka Reveals What Serena Williams Told Her After Winning US Open

According to The Times, Tennis umpires are considering refusing to preside over matches involving Serena Williams following the treatment of Carlos Ramos during the Women's US Open final. And the judge at the heart of the controversy, chair umpire Carlos Ramos, has said only that he is "fine" and is in a "delicate position".

"And I also really like Venus [Williams], I'm really grateful I had the chance to play her". 'She's right about the guys being held to a different standard, there's no question.' The Australian 24-time Grand Slam victor Margaret Court said: 'We always had to go by the rules. "It made me feel like it was a sexist remark", she told reporters on Saturday.

It was business as usual until the second set when, per CBS Sports, "Williams was given a warning from Ramos after the umpire determined her coach was attempting to instruct her using hand signals, which results in code violation".

American Serena Williams and Japan's Naomi Osaka were competing in the championship.

The move could be smart business from Adidas, pitting the younger Osaka against the 36-year-old Williams, who is one of the most prominent faces of rivals Nike, and who will have no doubt lost some public favor after her shocking outburst during their match.

First she was warned after her coach Patrick Mouratoglou was seen communicating with her via a hand gesture and then she was docked a point after smashing her racket.

In The Times report, one anonymous official told the outlet about umpires building solidarity with each other against Williams, as they believe the United States Tennis Association sold out Ramos by not defending him against Williams' claims of sexism and insults during the match. We just made life hard for umpires everywhere. "If it's like this, let me know".

The Japanese player's breakthrough triumph in NY was overshadowed by an explosive row between her opponent Serena Williams and umpire Carlos Ramos.

"I thought about those things watching Serena, and I said, 'This kid has been playing all of these years, and I don't think she's ever been accused of cheating before it happened on Saturday.'" he said, "And [tennis coaches], they all cheat, no matter how you look at it".

Speaking to Tribuna Expresso earlier this week in his native country, Ramos indicated he was at peace with his decisions because he didn't pick and choose when to apply the rule book.

"I'm fine, given the circumstances", he told the publication. "It's an unhappy situation but "à la carte" refereeing doesn't exist".

"Don't you worry about me!" he added.
