New MacBook Air ANNOUNCED by Apple - Release date, specs, United Kingdom price REVEALED

'Redesigning MacBook Air started with a stunning Retina display and all-day battery life, and then we added Touch ID and the Apple T2 Security Chip, the latest processors, incredible sound, the third-generation keyboard and Force Touch trackpad, high speed Thunderbolt 3 ports, and of course macOS Mojave in a handsome, thinner, lighter, all-aluminium design that a whole new generation of MacBook Air customers are going to love'.

The previous MacBook Air model is still available at $999.

We weren't able to test the performance of Apple's newest MacBook at our session at the Apple Event, however we plan to give the unit a vigorous testing when we get it in the office for review. Apple stated that it has revamped all the aspects of the Notebook.

From the outside, MacBook Air's tapered "flying wedge" profile - which measures just 1.56cm at its thickest point - and two USB-C ports makes it more clearly a member of the modern MacBook Pro family, although at a bantam-weight 1.25kg it's easily the most travel-friendly. It is also marginally lighter than the previous model.

Like the iPad and newest MacBook Pros - as well as former iPhones - the MacBook Air now has Touch ID to provide a secure unlock to the laptop.

It also comes with a T2 security chip for better privacy and security at bootload-level. The keyboard has been redesigned for better user experience along with the Touch ID. The T2 processor has an audio controller for wide-stereo sound, and an always on processor that allows for "Hey Siri" support.

It's a hefty price for the device, especially since you can get current MacBook Airs on Amazon for around £800-£900, and the super-slim MacBook is only £100 more than these new Airs. Each key is individually backlit using low-power LEDs for more accurate illumination. There's also a large and much-improved Force Touch trackpad.

The new Air features a 1.6GHz dual-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz.

The no. 1 feature customers asked for in a MacBook Air and have received in this version is a retina display, Lagrove said. It's the most versatile port ever. Two USB-C ports have been included.

The first thing you'll notice is that the Air has gotten even smaller again, but still has a 13.3-inch display.

Apple lifted the lid on a new MacBook Air model after years of fans crying out for an upgrade. As far as output video is concerned, there are three new formats. It's been so long since the MacBook Air has had an update that pretty much everything has been refreshed in one way or another. The new Stacks feature organizes messy desktops by automatically stacking files into neat groups.

The FaceTime HD camera is still at the top of the display (which obviously supports Group FaceTime).

Orders start today, and it goes on sale Wednesday, November 7.
