Denver Broncos: Demaryius Thomas trade details with Texans

In a conference call with Denver media on Tuesday, Texans coach Bill O'Brien said he knew nothing of the trade talks for Thomas, saying, "I've been in meetings all day game planning".

With the National Football League trade deadline looming on Tuesday at 2 p.m., "Schlereth and Evans" co-host Mark Schlereth said there's only one move the Denver Broncos need to make. It's a relatively low-priced deal for a first-place Houston team that's dealing with injuries at receiver. The team sent a fourth round pick to the Broncos and swapped seventh round picks, according to multiple media reports. Luckily for Thomas, he won't have to start looking for a house in Houston until next week, since the Broncos are actually hosting the Texans this coming Sunday. It didn't appear that they really got much in return, whereas the Texans did pretty well in the trade, in their attempt to replace Will Fuller (torn ACL). Courtland Sutton, the Broncos' second-round pick from the 2018 draft, has flashed brilliance at times, and Thomas's move indicates that the organization is sold on Sutton filling in as the number-two wide receiver.

Thomas also is a relatively cheap gamble for Houston.

Thomas is owed $14 million in base salary next season. "It was hard, it's always hard", Elway said of the conversation - but what the Broncos could get for Thomas now in compensation made the trade a reality. The other is money. Hamilton is now recovering from a sprained MCL he suffered in the Broncos' Week 7 win over the Arizona Cardinals, while Patrick has played 60 snaps all season, 19 of those this past Sunday in Kansas City.
