Jazz deal Alec Burks to Cleveland

Jazz deal Alec Burks to Cleveland

He had anthropic surgery on his ankle which again caused him to miss most of the 16-17 season.

Korver previously played with the Jazz from 2007 to 2010. The Jazz have also included two future second-round picks in the deal.

On the surface, this kind of exchange is certainly well short of blockbuster territory and it seems pretty straight-forward: Utah gets shooting for an offense that needs it, while the Cavs add an expiring contract and a pair of picks.

Besides for the fiscal advantage of no longer paying Korver, the Cavs have picked up some much-needed draft capital with the two second round picks.

ESPN first reported the sharpshooting Korver is on the move. In 2009-10, Korver set a single-season record by shooting a scorching 53.6 percent from deep in 52 games for the Jazz. Utah entered Wednesday's game 29th in the National Basketball Association in 3-point shooting, making 31.9 percent. And Korver's departure marks yet another change for Cleveland, who not only lost James, but had to fire head coach Tyronn Lue after a poor 0-6 start while J.R. Smith has left the team to plan an outgoing trade. The Jazz have been one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the league so far this season.

In 180 career games with Utah, he averaged 8.7 ppg, while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 41.6 percent from 3-point range.

But while he's sad to see one of his teammates go, he's also excited to see what Korver can bring to the team. Alec Burks is the 27 year old nearing his prime in terms of age that still has something to prove.

Korver is averaging 6.8 points in 15.7 minutes per game, both his lowest figures since his rookie season in 2003-04.
